The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention consider water fluoridation to be one of the top 10 public health achievements in the 20th century, keeping teeth strong and reducing tooth decay by approximately 25% in children and adults.
However, you have may have seen that JAMA Pediatrics just published a study that hints at an apparent association between fluoride during pregnancy and IQ. The authors of the study note its various limitations and the fact that additional research should be conducted.
