Dallas County Dental Society (DCDS) is a professional association for licensed Texas dentists committed to giving the community reliable, trustworthy information and access to accredited dentists. DCDS is the local component to the Texas Dental Association and the American Dental Association.

Our mission is to serve the professional needs of our members. As part of this mission, DCDS proudly sponsors the annual Southwest Dental Conference and DCDS Dental Assisting School.

Join us as TDA President Dr. Glen Hall provides a brief update regarding the recent news, actions and changes at the Texas Dental Association.

Unlocking Smiles: Exploring Maxillary Expansion Techniques, a two-hour continuing education course, will be presented at this meeting by Dr. Shivam Mehta. Different types of expanders are used to correct maxillary transverse deficiency. This lecture will discuss the different types of expanders and their applications. The lecture will discuss the long-term effects of maxillary expansion specifically mini-screw assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE) in detail. This presentation will answer the following questions: What are the effects of conventional rapid palatal expansion (RPE) and mini-screw assisted rapid palatal expansion in the long-term? Do RPE and MARPE affect the dental, skeletal, soft-tissue structures and airway in a different manner with respect to controls? This lecture would describe a cutting-edge technique of voxel-based superimposition of serial CBCT scans to analyze the changes with conventional and mini-screw assisted rapid palatal expansion as compared to controls. Furthermore, the short-term and long-term outcomes following expansion appliances would be described using color coded maps.

Member dentists, their staff and TAMUCOD students are free. Non-member dentists and their staff are $95. Pre-registration is required, whether your attendance is virtual or in person.
